Original oil paintings combining sports action with expressive, painterly style

I started painting at sixteen, replicating famous photos of sports stars I found in magazines. After studying painting at Missouri State University, I opened a small art studio in the Crossroads Arts District in 2003, later to join several friends in that same space with our own creative-services company. From there, I established a career in marketing and moved to New York where I was exposed to a new level of artistic styles and inspiration. After a brief stop in Seattle, my wife and I moved back to Kansas City in 2018 to build a home for our family and our two beautiful daughters.

My approach to painting is highly expressive. I use thick paint application and a variety of tools from brushes, knives and cloth to build texture so the viewer is 100% certain the artwork is original. I work to capture the action and emotion of a subject at a scale that creates a wow-factor and focal point for any space, whether a home or business.
